Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreshadow (Pitt Theater)

There she stood – the scruffy shell of the town’s former place to see and be seen, saggy and fading like the beauty of the aging stars’ faces who’d graced her main screen decades ago. Aptly christened as the Pitt, her marquee seemed to mock the community’s latest efforts at revitalization – foreshadowing another failure of leadership during yet another economic decline.

“Don’t forget me,” she whispered, begging for one last closeup. “I was something in my day.”

  4. It is sad that some of the most beautiful places fall into disuse and crumble….Lovely contribution to the challenge.

    • Thank you so much for your insights and kind words. I think crumbling theaters are particularly sad. I guess it’s just because there was once so much life and joy at these places. (That and the beautiful interior art that has been lost to the ravages of time.)

Great interpretation of this week’s theme and I agree with Janaline’s comment about how sad it is to let history fall into ruin like that.

    • Sadly, there seem to be more and more sites like this across the nation. Seems like such a waste of beauty when we exert such effort to create something wonderful and then let it slip away without much thought.
